To celebrate Women’s History Month, we are going to read The Women by Kristin Hannah. Using the story of one woman gone to war in Vietnam, Hannah shines a light on all women who put themselves in harm’s way and whose sacrifice and commitment to their country has too often been forgotten.
Twenty-year-old nursing student, Frances “Frankie” McGrath joins the Army Nurse Corps when her brother ships out to serve in Vietnam. As green and inexperienced as the men sent to fight, Frankie is overwhelmed by the chaos and destruction of war. Each day is a gamble of life and death, hope and betrayal. But war is just the beginning as coming home to a changed and divided America, angry protesters, and a country that wants to forget Vietnam is its own challenge.
Join us as we discuss The Women by Kristin Hannah. Registration is requested.
