Event Details

Local author Danielle Cochran will visit the Northern Tier Library to share her book There's a Dachshund in My House! This book is a heartwarming, imaginative children's story about a curious boy named Oscar and his loyal dachshund, Maple. It celebrates family bonds, childhood imagination, and the magic of friendship. Together, Oscar and Maple journey through dreams that sparkle with wonder — floating past planets, dancing beneath cherry blossoms, and sharing gelato on a gondola ride in Venice.

As they explore these dreamlike worlds, Oscar and Maple discover gentle lessons about honesty, courage, family, and the joy of seeing life with an open heart. From cozy moments at home to magical adventures beyond it, their story reminds young readers that the world is full of love, and the truest magic is having a friend by your side and a warm place to call home.

Find out who Danielle is, what inspired the book, and how Maple and Oscar came to life with the help of an illustrator from the Ukraine and how she created these images during a time of war in her country. Followed by a cozy storytime where Danielle reads her book aloud to the audience. At the end there will be a book signing with copies for sale (if you would like).

Told with warmth and playful charm, There's a Dachshund in My House! is perfect for children ages 2-10, families who love reading together, and anyone who believes in the power of storytelling to spark creativity and connection.

This event is designed for children, but enjoyable for parents, grandparents, and caregivers as well. Registration is required.
